DSSG Media Statement / Respect for Jabalbina privacy

We acknowledge the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Bama as the rightful custodians of this land, and we seek to assist the Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation in achieving the aspirations of the custodians.

We thank them for their commitment to protect the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, and assure them that this is a commitment we share.

They have asked that their letter (to UNESCO) not be published. DSSG respects that request, has removed it from DSSG websites and social media and asked any others who have published it to do the same.

The letter is authentic. It has not been altered in any way.

DSSG respects the Traditional Owners’ request for privacy from the media.

We ask others to also respect their request for privacy from the media.

Didge McDonald

President, DSSG
