FNQ Floods feature in a new community exhibition launching tomorrow

A community exhibition showcasing photographs of the far north’s devastating January 2019 floods will launch tomorrow, Thursday, 19 November 2020, from 5:00 pm at the Port Douglas Community Hall. Guest speaker for the launch is Pam Willis from the Douglas Shire Historical Society. Everybody is invited to attend.

Over the past few months, Community Development Officer Kathrina Southwell of Douglas Shire Council has been working with communities worst affected by the 2019 monsoon trough and collecting photos across the region as part of the community project.

The exhibition will be a space for residents to discuss their flood experiences, to help with recovery from the monsoonal trough, and to encourage people to prepare for the upcoming cyclone season.
