With this week’s launch of a new COVID-19 check-in app, customers will experienced reduced waiting times in queues to enter busy local venues like the Central Hotel and IronBar.
CHECK-IN Qld is a government-developed QR app that is rolling out across Queensland this week. It promises streamlined entry to cafes, restaurants, bars and event venues.
The Check In Qld app is a contactless, free, secure and convenient way for patrons to sign in to Queensland businesses.
said the Check In Qld app is based on the Australian Capital Territory model, and has proved safe and reliable having undergone extensive and rigorous testing before todays approved roll-out.

For customers, use of the Check In Qld app means faster and easier check-in at venues, and faster contact tracing in the event of an outbreak.
Businesses will now not need to store their customers information. The data entered into each customer’s app is stored securely for Queensland Health for 30 to 56 days and will only be used if required for contact tracing purposes.
It is free to register and use the Check In Qld app.

The new Check-In Qld app is free, contactless, secure and convenient and I know it will be embraced by venues and people right across the state…it simplifies compliance with Public Health Directions for all hospitality venues, with patrons and customers able to self-check-in and have their information stored securely….having a safe and consistent check-in app has been a top priority, as we embrace the ‘new normal’ of a COVID safer environment.
Ms Palaszczuk encouraged businesses to sign up for the new app but said it would not be mandatory.
The Check In Qld app is available to download as either a customer or a business venue on the Google Play and Apple stores here

The new Check In Qld app will help Queensland Health’s hard-working contact tracing team to quickly identify and assist anyone who may have been exposed to COVID-19
Acceptance of the app will strengthen our efforts to unite and recover from COVID-19 by ensuring contact tracing can be quickly carried out in a time-critical situation.
People can have confidence, knowing check in details will be stored securely by the Queensland Government for 30 to 56 days and will only be used if required for contact tracing purposes.
Businesses outside the hospitality sector can also take up the app on a voluntary basis.
Look out for the Check-In Qld app rolling out in venues around the Shire this week.

The Check In Qld app compliments the COVIDSafe app. The Check In Qld app is specific for customers to check in to a venue and have their details stored securely by the Queensland Government for contact tracing (if required). The COVIDSafe app has a broader use and is not venue based. It is for use in other locations such as open spaces, parks and public transport.
