Daintree River Crossing Update / Notice Of Special Council Meeting

Councillors have asked the CEO to provide critical final details for the Daintree River crossing options which will be tabled at a final Special Council Meeting early next week.

DOUGLAS Shire Council is nearing the final stages of securing the Daintree River crossing after holding a constructive Special Council Meeting in Mossman today.

Councillors have asked the CEO to provide critical final details which will be tabled at a final Special Council Meeting early next week.

This meeting will be open to the public and live-streamed at Council’s website.

A number of options to provide a continuation of service beyond 1 July 2021 are being finalised.

Notice of Special Council Meeting  – Monday 17 May, 2021

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with Section 254C of the Local Government Regulation 2012, a Special Meeting will be held on Monday 17 May 2021 commencing at 3:30pm at the Council Chambers, 64-66 Front Street, Mossman.

Business to be conducted at the Special Council Meeting will be:

  • To finalise Daintree River Crossing.

Council Meetings are now open to the public.  There will be a maximum of 10 people allowed (due to size of the room and to allow for social distancing) and will not need to pre-register.

In line with government regulations, council requires that all guests register (to assist with contract tracing) their details prior to entering the Meeting Room.

Council staff will rotate in and out of the room to ensure the COVID safe capacity is adhered to.

The meeting will be live-streamed online and can be accessed via Council’s website here.
