Jalun Park Saved from Development for the Douglas Community

Gurner impact on Jalun Park

Douglas Shire Council has voted not to support the acquisition of land at the top of Jalun Park which was to be used for driveway access to the proposed Gurner™ development.

Douglas Shire Council passed a motion to advise the Queensland Department of Resources (DOR) that it objects to the application for permanent road closure over road reserve adjoining Lot 2 on RP724386, Esplanade Port Douglas, site of the proposed Gurner ™ development.

DouglasNews.Network congratulates Douglas Shire Council on this vital decision, and in particular, Councillor Abigail Noli for presenting the Notice of Motion.

The images above and below show the effect that the Gurner™ development would have had on Jalun Park. The developers will now need to design a concept that does not encroach on community parkland, and complies with the codes enshrined in the Douglas Planning Scheme.
