Who says COVID vaccines don’t work?
Despite the Melbourne lockdown being likely to be extended for at least another seven days, there is great news from the UK today, no COVID-related deaths have been reported in the UK in the last 24 hours.
The reduction of cases and deaths is due in part to both the extended lockdown (now easing) and the UK’s successful vaccination campaign.
The UK has recently seen significant increases in the B.1.617 (Indian) strain, the same as causing the current Melbourne outbreak. It is great to see that NPIs (non-pharmaceutical interventions such as social distancing) and vaccine have been able to have such an effect on COVID.
