A high [1027 hPa] over southwest Australia extends a ridge across the continent. The high will push a surface trough eastwards across the Mackay Coastal Waters early this morning. The high will move across southern Australia over the next few days, maintaining a firm ridge along the east coast.


Forecast for Friday

Winds / South to southwesterly below 10 knots tending south to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots in the late morning. Winds reaching up to 20 knots offshore south of Innisfail in the late evening. Inshore winds turning east to southeasterly during the afternoon.

Seas /Below 0.5 metres, increasing to around 1 metre around midday.

Swell / Easterly around 1 metre outside the reef, decreasing below 1 metre in the afternoon.

Weather / Mostly sunny. Possible shower offshore.

Winds /South to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore north of Cairns during the afternoon. Inshore winds decreasing to 10 to 15 knots during the early morning. Winds south of Innisfail decreasing to 10 to 15 knots in the late evening.
