The inaugural Douglas Shire NAIDOC Gala will be held at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Glade on Friday July 16, 2021.
The Douglas Shire Indigenous Events Committee hope to make the Gala an annual event on the NAIDOC calendar.
The evening is set to feature a delicious two-course dinner, beverage package, Awards Ceremony and fabulous live cultural performances and music.
Awards will be presented to recipients of the community who have excelled in their field, going ‘above and beyond’ for the Indigenous community of Kuku Yalanji people.
The theme for this year’s NAIDOC celebrations is Heal Country, heal our nation. Heal Country! calls for stronger measures to recognise, protect, and maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage. Stay tuned for the announcement of further local events shortly.
