What’s On Around the Douglas Shire This Weekend?

The new Dining Precinct along Cairns Esplanade officially opens on Sunday with a huge day of markets, live music, entertainment, prizes and dining giveaways for the whole family. The free entertainment is headlined by Christine Anu performing at 7.30pm.

There are markets far and wide this weekend, from Mossman right through to Yungaburra and the Tanks. Tim Freedman will play live at the Tanks on Friday night.

Art lovers will enjoy the opening of Retrospectives, an exhibition at the Port Douglas Community Hall that celebrates Douglas Shire artists past, present and emerging.

The annual Airing of the Qulits Exhibition also takes place over the weekend, at the Mossman Indoor Sport Centre Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Oaks Resort Port Douglas welcome back locals poolside, kicking off their locals Sunday sessions this weekend, promising house DJs, live music and fabulous food and drink specials all Sunday afternoon.

PS The Santiego crew are home in Port this weekend, unloading prawns and bycatch from the crack of dawn on both Saturday and Sunday at the public jetty.

A weekly social Ocean Swim around the buoys in front of the patrol hut, which makes about a 500m course. Meet in front of the patrol hut on Four Mile Beach at 9am. Please note this is a social swim without any organised water safety and you swim at your own risk. For safety reasons we swim in front of the patrol hut during lifeguard hours.
