Ramping Up Action at Newell Beach Boat Ramp

The new $3.2 million Newell Beach boat ramp is expected to be completed in 2022.

Member for Cook Cynthia Lui reports that the planning process for the new all-tide boat ramp is well underway, with tenders expected to be posted in July.

Stakeholders were presented with a design proposal in March 2021, by Marine Safety Queensland (MSQ). Stakeholders discussed the revised design at a second community meeting on 29 April. As a result of those discussions, a request for a floating fishing platform was submitted.

Currently, MSQ’s design consultant is designing a revised concept for feedback. After design and environmental approvals are finalised, the project will be put out for tender in July.

Subsequently, further community consultation will take place to discuss the construction phase.
Community feedback will be considered when planning this phase of the project.

MSQ will continue to provide ongoing stakeholder updates on the progress of the project.
