What’s On Around the Douglas Shire This Weekend?

If you haven’t already, be sure to pop in to immerse yourself in the wonder of the Retrospectives Exhibition at the Port Douglas Community Hall that is currently showing. The exhibition is a brilliant celebration of Douglas Shire artists past, present and emerging.

The fabulous Kiki Courtidis is now playing live each Friday at the Daintree Bar at the Sheraton Grand Mirage, and locals, guests and visitors are welcomed.

Oaks Resort Port Douglas welcome back locals poolside, with another locals Sunday sessions this weekend, promising house DJs, live music and fabulous food and drink specials all afternoon.

Mareeba will be bustling with the rodeo crowd on Saturday, as the Rodeo is condensed to one day and one night this Saturday-it is only the Agricultural Show exhibit that is missing, so head for the hills for the Mareeba markets early Saturday morning then some country action and sideshow alley entertainment for all. Overnight on-site camping available.

Footy lovers, get out and support your local teams- Port Douglas Crocs AFL take on Cairns North in a home game on Saturday and the Mossman Sharks take on Atherton at home on Saturday at 6pm.

Three mates with three different music careers are taking the campfire singalongs to the stage.

Alex Lloyd is best known for his four top ten albums, Black the Sun, Watching Angels Mend, Distant Light and Alex Lloyd; all released between 1999 and 2005. Lloyd has also won the ARIA Award for Best Male Artist on three occasions.

Brad Butcher is a Central Queensland born, Australian, independent singer-songwriter and musician. A two time CMAA Golden Guitar winner for New Talent (2018) & Alt Country Album of the year (2020) and a 2018 Q Music Award Winner for Best Country Song.

Jeremy Marou from Busby Marou’s success includes millions of global streams, top 20 airplay & four ARIA Charting albums. Busby Marou’s self-titled album is certified ARIA Gold, while their most recent album The Great Divide and Farewell Fitzroy debuted in the Top 5 on and Postcards From The Shell House was Busby Marou’s first ARIA #1 album.

A weekly social Ocean Swim around the buoys in front of the patrol hut, which makes about a 500m course. Meet in front of the patrol hut on Four Mile Beach at 9am. Please note this is a social swim without any organised water safety and you swim at your own risk. For safety reasons we swim in front of the patrol hut during lifeguard hours.
