Enjoy our definitive guide to ‘What’s On’ in, and around, the Douglas Shire this weekend.

Live music lovers will be treated to another fabulous night of blues and roots in the rainforest tonight, with the second release of “Roots in the Rainforest” happening at Flames in the Forest in Mowbray. Full details are provided below. Head north to Crossroads for another lively night of musical talent with the regular Friday Musos night attracting diverse stage talent from far and wide. Local wild caught fish and chips are on the menu-but get in early!

Oaks Resort Port Douglas welcome back locals poolside, with another locals Sunday session this weekend, promising house DJs, live music and fabulous food and drink specials all afternoon.

The Tijuana Cartel gig at The Yachty has been cancelled due to a change in management at the Club, and the band have kindly offered to put on a free gig at Salt House in Cairns in lieu of the cancelled event-kicks off at 4pm.

The Mossman Sharks have an epic day of footy at home on Saturday while the Crocs play in Trinity Beach against the Centrals.

Markets are being held in Palm Cove on Sunday, a fabulous way to start the day, followed by live music and $1 oysters at Ellis Beach Bar & Grill on the way home.

What is the weather doing?

A ridge extends over northern waters. A high [1021 hPa] over southeast Australia will move into the northern Tasman Sea today, extending a strengthening ridge along the east coast. Friday winds are southeasterly about 10 knots increasing to 10 to 15 knots in the middle of the day. Saturday will see east to southeasterly winds 10 to 15 knots and Sunday we’ll see winds southeasterly 10 to 15 knots.
