Douglas Shire Mayor States Council CEO on Leave


Various media reports state that the Douglas Shire CEO, Mark Stoermer went on leave on Thursday last week and that Juanita Warner has been appointed as acting CEO. Some broadcast and social media reports are saying that he resigned on Thursday.

The media reports state that a Special Meeting was held on Monday August 16, 2021 to discuss renewing the CEO’s contract that expires in September.

A Special Meeting was held in closed session on Monday. At the time of writing, there is no information to confirm the agenda and the outcomes of the meeting and no information to confirm that the CEO is on leave or has resigned and that Ms Warner has been appointed as acting CEO.

According to the media reports, the Mayor has stated that Mr Stoermer is on leave and that all the information will be available soon in the interests of transparency.

Mr Stoermer was appointed as Douglas Shire Council CEO in September 2018 after working as the CEO of Nillumbik Shire Council in Victoria.
