Long Weekend Guide / 1- 4 October 2021

What a fabulous promising weekend of live music, family entertainment and fine fine weather! Savannah in the Round rocks the far north this weekend, with John Butler Trio, John Williamson, Lee Kernaghan and Sneaky Sound System adding funk to the country-themed music festival. Tickets for weekend or day passes are still available…don’t miss out on some bootscootin’ and pop funk action, along with Australia’s first festival Pfizer vax tent!

If you are not heading up to Mareeba, perhaps consider helping to salvage Kuranda’s gorgeous Ampitheatre from demise, with a Spring Festival kicking off at 12pm on Sunday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Kuranda Amphitheatre. The day promises to be great fun for the whole family with bar and food, entertainment, face painting, a box car rally, treasure hunt and performances from local bands. A $5 entry to go towards saving the Amphitheatre.

Shaylee Strawberry Farm (up at Yungaburra) is open all weekend for pick-your-own family adventures, nad the most sublime strawberry ice cream, and Tolga markets are on Sunday if you want to take a cooler Tablelands tour this weekend.

The weather looks perfect for heading out to explore the big blue but remember a reef fish closure kicks off on Sunday, from 3 to 7 October (and again from 2 to 6 November)-so make it more about snorkelling and diving than dropping a line over.
