What is the weather doing?

A high [1020 hPa] near New Zealand extends a weak ridge over northern waters. The ridge will weaken further over the next day or two as a trough in the interior moves east, reaching the southeast coast late Friday and becoming slow moving over the Capricornia coast on Saturday. The trough is expected to push back westward later in the weekend as a new ridge builds northward over the region. A developing tropical low over the far northeastern Coral Sea is expected to more organised over the next few days and could form into a tropical cyclone later in the weekend or early next week. However, it is not expected to affect the northern coastal waters.

Winds for today and tomorrow are variable below 10 knots, tending east to northeasterly about 10 knots in the afternoon. For Sunday, winds are expected to be east to southeasterly about 10 knots. Wind variable less than 10 knots in the early morning.

FOUR MILE BEACH SOCIAL SWIM / A weekly social Ocean Swim around the buoys in front of the patrol hut, which makes about a 500m course. Meet in front of the patrol hut on Four Mile Beach at 9am. Please note this is a social swim without any organised water safety and you swim at your own risk. For safety reasons we swim in front of the patrol hut during lifeguard hours.
