Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) kicks off tomorrow. Experience the beauty and diversity of Indigenous cultures from Tropical North Queensland and other parts of the state. CIAF is an unparalleled celebration of Indigenous art, dance, fashion, and music.

For the very first time, guests will be treated to the opening of the Art Fair and Art Market simultaneously.

We welcome cruise ships back to Port Douglas on Thursday, with guests onboard Coral Princess arriving into Port Douglas at the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina at 7am.

MAREEBA RODEO / A full weekend of Mareeba Festival events; the Β Downtown Parade, Rodeo Queen Competition, Side-Show Alley, Agricultural Β Show, Garden Competition, Window Dressing Competition, Cowpokes, Horse Β Sports, Ute Muster, Woodchops, Art Show and more. The festival culminates Saturday with a one-day, full points, ABCRA affiliated rodeo. The Saturday night rodeo program will feature the finals and the State-Of-Origin. WEATHER / A high [1028 hPa] in Bass Strait extends a weakening ridge over the northern waters. The high will move slowly east into the Tasman Sea. A new high moves into the Great Australian Bight on Thursday, maintaining the ridge.

MEET THE JOEY DAY / Wildlife Habitat from 8am. It’s a GIRL! Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas is one furry, padded paw closer to revealing the name of their new koala joey. The adorable little marsupial’s name will be revealed for the first time!

The Wildlife Habitat team will have fun give aways for the kids with fun Koala facts, wildlife posters and more! Curlew CafΓ© will be serving β€œkoala-ity” snacks and light meals, and all visitors can get the chance to enter in a drawing to win 1 of 5 family passes to the all-new β€œBreakfast with the Birds” that includes not only the opportunity to hand feed tropical birds, but Koala’s as well!

MARCH FOR YOUR RIGHTS / Defend Roe v Wade 4pm Cairns Esplanade. Event hosted by Pro Choice Cairns. You are invited to come and stand up for reproductive rights in light of the Roe vs Wade ruling being overturned.

This recent ruling means that currently 23 states have limited access to abortions, 17 of which from the moment of conception. There will be criminal penalties for abortion providers and anyone helping women access safe abortions. Gather at the tree of knowledge opposite the Cairns Hospital on the Esplanade. Speeches, performers and a march at 4:30pm down to the lagoon and back. “We need to be loud, we demand to be seen, we will not sit back quietly because silence is violence.” This will be a safe and inclusive space for varying demographics.
