The Indigenous Awards evening takes place tonight, honouring our local Indigenous leaders and achievers.

Enjoy it low and slow tomorrow afternoon at The Surfy where “Smoke ‘ n Steel” food truck will park up and serve juicy slow-cooked bites by the beach.

Indulge in la dolce vita at Cairns Italian Festival this weekend, with a food and wine celebration at Fogarty Park on Saturday. There is a Gemfest up in Atherton, a Rum Masterclass presented by Mt Uncle Distillery at the Sheraton on Saturday, and a luxuriously decadent Sunset Session by the pool again at the Sheraton on Sunday.

As we head nudge to the pointy end of the season, the Port Douglas Crocs AFL teams take on their traditional rivals, Cairns Saints, while the annual Relay for Life will also be held this weekend.

It’s National Tree Planting Day on Sunday so plant a tree (or a garden! )
