Live Music Gig Guide
Every weekend, you’ll find live music at Paddy’s, Court House and the Central Hotel on Friday and Saturday nights and again at the Courty for a Sunday market session.
This weekend, at the Courty, you can catch Seachange on Saturday night and DNA on Sunday night.
At the Central, DNA are playing Friday night and Anais Campbell stars on Tuesday night.
Hughies in Mossman is open again Friday for their once-a-week celebrity appearance from 4pm.
Mount Molloy National Hotel features Jag the Joker and live music on Fridays with meat raffles-tickets with your drink purchase from 5.30pm. Happy Hour and a transfer bus home (book early!) or a room at the inn upstairs.
Cane Toad Racing is held at Chilli’s Pizza & Trattoria most nights (weather depending) from 6 pm. Arriving early is highly recommended. Fabulous food and atmosphere!

Tick Free Diving off the Bucket List
If freediving is on your bucket list, now is the perfect moment to sign up for a one-day pool freediving course on 28 January 2023.
The course provides you with foundational knowledge for freediving. It is ideal for anyone new to freediving, or has experience freediving or spearfishing but hasnβt had the opportunity to discuss key knowledge points.
After completing the course, you can upgrade and add a depth day on at a later date to complete your Level 1 Freediving Course.

Miriam Margolyes and Beastly Delights for the Kids at Mossman Library
Miriam Margolyes returns for the second week to understand what the Fair Go means in Australia today and how it is playing out in the diverse lives of her fellow citizens.
No bookings required. Snack and drink provided. Friday 13 January 1-2.30pm onwards.
Next Tuesday, 17 January, kids can meet a fascinating array of live invertebrates including insects, arachnids, myriapods (centipedes and millipedes) and gastropods (snails and slugs).
Mossman Library 10:30am for ages 5+, adult supervision required. No bookings required.

Plant One Tree in the Daintree or 600!
Head up to Cape Trib on Sunday and give Daintree Life a hand for a community planting of 600 trees on Nicole Drive.
Sign in will be at 8.30am, with planting at 9 am. Holes will already be dug, and a BBQ lunch will be provided.
This will be a fun event in a lovely semi-shaded location, so come along to meet old friends, meet new people, and make a difference.
Stay for a dip in the creek, and grab a cold drink at the ever lovely Turtle Cafe or at Thornton’s Cafe on the way home.
If You Need a Hand
Mossman Support Services’ emergency relief resumed this week, operating 9.30am -11.50am at the Community Centre.
The Men’s Shed has also re opened.
Playgroup resumes Friday morning, 13 January at 10 am.
Community lunch will be back Wednesday 18 January at 12 pm. Community programs are currently in the planning stage and will be returning early February.
Port Douglas’ Neighbourhood Centre also have a full calendar of weekly events including a walking group, men’s breakfast on Wednesdays, Tai Chi, Chatty Cafe, foodies network, book club, table tennis, creative, play groups and all kinds of other social and creative groups, as well as visiting support services.

Shoot for the Stars-Basketball Holiday Camps for Kids
Cairns Basketball are hosting school camps next week, to introduce new players to basketball and to assist in the development of existing players.
On Monday there will be a day camp for players aged 8 to 14 years old.
The focus of the camp is to provide skill instruction, and play a variety of small sided games. The day is all about playing basketball and developing game skills.Β
On Wednesday there is a day camp to prep for Rep. As Rep Trials for U14s and U12s are fast approaching, this is the perfect camp to attend to boost your skills after the school holidays break. Many of the drills and skills seen at this camp will be implemented throughout the Representative Trials.
