Local Dancers Shimmy in International Event To Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence

SHIMMY MOB is excited to announce a worldwide ‘flash mob’ dance event which will be happening in Mossman on Saturday May 13, 2023.

Volunteer teams from around the world will sync their moves to the same dance song, decked out in costumes designed to raise awareness of domestic violence prevention and education.

Since 2011, onย World Bellydance Day, teams of belly dancers around the world dance a Shimmy Mob, a belly dance flash mob held annually to raise awareness of domestic abuse. This is a fun event, held for a good cause. Feel good about yourself by helping others.

The 2023 Shimmy Mobย dance event aims to bring people together to show their support for domestic violence prevention and healing from abuse, and to raise funds for local domestic violence services.

The local Douglas Shire event is open to anyone who wants to join in and dance for a great cause. It is also a great opportunity for the local community to get involved and make a difference.

“We are excited to bring people together through dance and to raise awareness about an important issue that affects so many people,” said Francesca Anastasi (aka Sabeya), founder of Shimmy Mob.

“By participating in this event, people can show their support for domestic violence prevention and help raise funds for local shelters and support services.”
