On Saturday, the annual Pink in the Tropics (with a touch of blue) will be held, with as fundraising lunch at Salsa followed by a home game for the Port Douglas Crocs AFL Seniors and Reserves team whose season is off to a snappy start! Taking on the Cairns Saints AFC with Reserves from 12pm and Seniors from 2pm.

Get down to the Club in your best pink and blue colours to show your support for both Pink In The Tropics Breast Cancer Support Group and Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Down in Cairns at the Showgrounds which is always a great venue for live rock gigs, the Red Hot Summer Tour will be smokin’ with music legends Paul Kelly, Bernard Fanning, Missy Higgins, Vika + Linda and more live.

The inimitable Meg Mac will be live at the Tanks on Saturday night too.

Barrow loads of competitors will be running behind their barrows between Mareeba and Chillagoe for the Great Wheel Barrow Race over three days to raise funds for local charity.

Enjoy Mothers Day with markets in Holloways Beach and Port Douglas and Roast Specials for lunch nearly everywhere! Don’t forget $2 oysters and live music st the newly renovated Ellis Beach Bar + Grill.

All weekend, you’ll find live music at Paddy’s, the Court House Hotel and the Central Hotel on Friday and Saturday nights and again at the Court House for a Sunday market session. The Tin Shed often holds a chilled live music session on the deck on Sunday afternoons, and the Tav at Four Mile have live music every couple of Saturday afternoons.

Douglas Arts Base Exhibition Opening

The ‘Artful Abstraction’ Exhibition is officially open with DAB artists and supporters enjoying a great opening night catching up and admiring the colourful and creative abstract artworks filling DAB’s Gallery.

The Gallery is open 10am – 2pm Monday to Saturday at 11 Mill Street Mossman.
