Saturday is jam-packed with events-from Reef to Reef MTB, community markets in Wonga Beach, preliminary finals for the Port Douglas Rugby Union team, the second weekend of the 10 day BMUP extravaganza (Neil Murray is live there this weekend) and for music lovers (and fans of Selling Sunset), G Flip drumming at Tanks (Sold Out).
Reef to Reef MTB is back in the Douglas Shire this weekend so bust out your bikes and your party shirts and crack open a cold one because its almost go time for #ReeftoReefMTB 2023!
In it’s 30 amazing years the Triple-R (formerly known as RRR) has developed its own unique character and culture.This year riders can choose the either the Triple-R Long Course or the Triple-R Classic options which will coincide with the final day of Reef to Reef.
Both race distances start at the same location, include a descent of the infamous Bump Track and finish with the same dash along Four Mile Beach to the finish at Port Douglas, a refreshing beverage and a huge birthday party!
This visually spectacular race dominated with three diverse terrains is adventure at its best.

Live and Loud
There will be live music at all the usual Port Douglas venues-Paddys, Central Hotel, Court House Hotel and also up at Mount Molloy National Hotel who do a weekly Jag the Joker and live band on Fridays.
Friday
Rockin’ Rick hosts karaoke at Mossman Bowls Club tonight, and Hughies in Mossman is open from 4pm for their weekly evening of fabulous food and drinks.
Coral Beach Lodge are hosting a special Burger Night promo, after 8:30pm are serving chicken wings for $1.
Yahdoh will be performing with his popular repertoire of country folk songs. Check out the recently renovated venue.
Mount Molloy National Hotel will also host live music from 7-10 pm with Jag the Joker, great country hospitality and a complimentary shuttle service for local residents.
Saturday
FV Condamine will be down at the public jetty selling fillets of coral trout and spanish mackerel from 7-11 am.
Dave Dusch is playing his beer garden classics at The Tav from 3pm to 6pm with lots of raffle prizes and games to add to the entertainment.

Wonga Beach State School invites the Douglas community to stop by for an afternoon of market stalls, raffles, delicious fresh food and cold drinks at their community markets.


Sunday
Ash Grunwald is live at the Clink in Port tonight (now sold out), doors open at 6.30pm with Tessa Devine on stage at 7pm.

Mossman State School time capsule to be buried
The date is set for getting the time-capsule into the ground so that the school can celebrate 150 years in 2048! If you would like to contribute a letter, a small item relevant to our current times, a photo or something else – please let us know or drop it to the School with your details. Mossman State School is hoping many can join in again, Wednesday August 30 at 10am to help seal and hide the capsule away again.

Cairns Disability EXPO 2023
Cairns will see over 100 disability services take part in the EXPO next weekend, August 29, 2023.
The Cairns Disability Network (CDN) will hold its annual Disability EXPO at The Pier Marketplace in Cairns.
Everyone is welcome to come and visit the EXPO, chat to the stall holders, connect with providers and take away some information.
The EXPO is FREE to enter and is on from 9am – 5pm.
This yearβs EXPO will host various providers including:
- Employment, study and lifestyle supports and options
- NDIS and non-NDIS services
- Assistive technology and equipment
- The opportunity to connect with advocacy, supports and services for people wti disability, injury or health conditions
- Allied health providers
