After nine years at the helm as chief executive officer and more than 15 years of dedicated service to the organisation, is it with mixed emotions that Tourism Port Douglas Daintree announces the resignation of Tara Bennett who will look to pass on the baton as she explores new professional horizons in tourism.

This is not goodbye but see you around as Tara continues to be a strong advocate for the Douglas Shire as she takes on her new role at Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) as general manager – partnerships and events.
Cam Charlton, chair of Tourism Port Douglas Daintree, expressed both gratitude for Bennettโs outstanding contributions and optimism for the organisation’s future.
“The TPDD Board would like to take this opportunity to express sincere thanks and appreciation to our departing CEO”.
โTaraโs leadership and extensive commitment and contribution to TPDD and our destination during tumultuous times has been simply outstanding”.
Tara would personally like to thank all TPDD members for their support over the years, stating โit was a difficult decision to step down from the role i have been privileged to fill for the best part of a decade.โ
โI have been incredibly fortunate to hold what I consider the best job in the world. However, after nine incredibly rewarding years leading TPDD, I believe it is the perfect time for a new leader who will guide the organisation into 2024 and beyond.”
TPDD is now on the hunt for its next leader to champion the local tourism organisationโs mission of promoting Port Douglas and Daintree on a national and global stage.
