This weekend, local breast cancer support group Pink in The Tropics held their annual fundraising breakfast at the Palmer Sea Reef Clubhouse.

Pink in the Tropics Inc. is the Douglas Shire’s community based charity Breast Cancer Support Group to support those recently diagnosed, undergoing treatment and to celebrate our survivors. We chat all things BC like what to expect during treatments, how to manage stress, ways to communicate with your loved ones about your diagnosis and are just here to listen over coffee or a glass of wine.

Spokesperson for Pink in the Tropics, Maria Atkinson,

” We raise money to assist our ladies in our community with a variety of care services during their treatments and support our local hospital with equipment that assists our cancer patients.

We are very blessed with local businesses who continually offer generous donations to help our affected ladies during a very stressful time.โ€

The fundraising breakfast was very successful-both a wonderfully entertaining morning, and raising well over $4000 for a vital cause.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month across Australia.

For the 31 days of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), pink ribbons appear as the impact of breast cancer is brought to the forefront of national conversation.

But we know that to help those facing breast cancer, awareness alone isnโ€™t enough. This October, get involved. Get screened. Make a donation. Take action. Make this BCAM about more than awareness.
