More than 250 dodgy Shitbox Rally cars departed from Port Douglas yesterday, bound for Adelaide in what promises to be seven days of adventure and laughter in the spirit of raising funds for cancer research.
The cars involved are driven by teams of two, are worth less than $1500, are roadworthy and registered, two-wheel drive only and teams have raised $5000 to participate in the event.

Teams were headed to Einasleigh last night via Mareeba, Dimbulah, Petford, Almaden and Mt Surprise, travelling 409 kms on a mix of sealed and unsealed roads.
Box rallies have raised almost $41 million for cancer research, and are officially endorsed and supported by Cancer Council. This rally has already raised over $22 million with a target of $20 million.
