Weekend Event Guide / 12-14 November 2021

Heading off to tag a marlin in this weekend’s Port Douglas Marlin Challenge. Image Credit / @katebickfordagrums

Why not support your local creatives, artisans and producers this Christmas by shopping small and local? This weekend is chockablock with diverse markets, from a twilight market and car boot sale in Wonga Beach, the fabulous and fresh farmers market in Mareeba, the beach-side stroll in Holloways Beach, the Makin’ Whoopee Christmas markets in Cairns, and all the regular markets in between-Mossman, St Crispins and Port Douglas on Sunday.

The Port Douglas Marlin Challenge is underway, finishing up on Sunday evening with plenty of locals on the water trying to tag a marlin. Results from Day 1 are presented below.

Inn Front in Mossman are taking us on a culinary adventure around the world. If tacos and tequila are your jam, book in for a Mexican inspired fiesta tonight and Saturday.

Take time out to appreciate our local talent by popping in to DAB to visit their End of Year Exhibition which opens tomorrow. This is a great way to support our local artist community (and to snaffle some unique Christmas gifts made with love).

Highlights of the weekend’s live music include Lady Valiant up at Mount Molloy National tonight, DJ Tastey at PK’s tomorrow night and Big Pups at Ellis Beach Bar & Grill on Sunday accompanied by $1 oysters.
