Weekend Event Guide | Friday 10 June-Sunday 12 June 2022

Black Mountain Unplugged Picnic ’22 is on again this weekend, two epic days and nights of unplugged cosmic blues in a cosmic destination south of Cooktown. Enjoy performances by Blues Arcadia, 8 Ball Aitken, Whodafunk, Good Cowboy Bad Cowboy and Lady Valiant, amongst plenty of other talent. BYO. Tickets $95.

2022 NQ Working Dog Trials will be held on both Saturday and Sunday at 164 Tati Rd. Enjoy dogs working on the cattle, canteen on site (no EFTPOS), bring along a chair and enjoy family friendly entertainment.

If you feel like a classic prawn sandwich on Sunday, it’s your lucky weekend, as both the Santiego crew and FV Condamine are home early from Princess Charlotte Bay, loaded up with fresh local bugs, crabs, scallops, cuttlefish, octopus and of course prawns. Available to the public from 7am on Saturday, and from 8am on Sunday at the public jetty in Port Douglas.

Tomorrow and the weekend are your last days to see the Archie 100 at Cairns Art Gallery. The collection of 100 Archibald works spanning the past century is an incredible opportunity for the region. It is free to visit.

Don’t forget the Cairns Airport Ironman event is being held this weekend, with the closure of the Captain Cook Highway. For full event details and road closure information, click here.
